Melanie My friend's mom is the principle harpist of the New York Phil, and she got a few tickets for me and my friend to go see a John Williams Movie Gala at Lincoln Center. It was quite fantastic. Co-hosted by Steven Spielberg, John Williams conducted the orchestra and started off with a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock. The orchestra played snippets from "Psycho" (with the actual movie playing behind the orchestra on a screen). The second half of the program consisted of themes from "Jaws," "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones", among others. (They even played the "NBC Theme Song." Did you know John Williams wrote that?) Here's the most exciting part. After the show, my friend's mom took us back stage to meet John Williams. We took pictures with him in his private dressing room and talked to him for a while about his work. Incredible concert! submitted 10-Jun-06 by
Taylor Adrian Anantawan let me play his Stradivarius for almost an entire rehearsal. I tried to practice afterwards and I sounded like I was playing on a two-by-four. submitted 23-May-06 by
Amber Walton Amar Hi Meg! Just wanted to say hello, hope you are doing well! Have enjoyed many trips out to the beautiful county to visit my grandmother who's celbrating 92 this year. Hello to Oliver and Emily! xoxo submitted 11-Dec-05 by
Julia Lozos Hey! Haven't checked in here in ages, but for those who remember playing those first ever performaces of my music, since MPM I've had several works performed, including a solo clarinet piece, a viola sonata, and a violin concerto. I'm in my last year of a composition major at Carnegie Mellon University, and am applying to grad schools for composition, though I still play viola ALL the time. And still make people play Shostakovich with me! submitted 23-Nov-05 by

Oliver Hill again Man, oh man, are the events piling up! This past Sunday, Nov 16, Me, Marco, Magee, Trout, his dad, Susan, Victoria and my dad all went to an excellent, excellent, excellent concert of the Tokyo String Quartet. They played an early Schubert quartet along with Smetena "From My Life" and the beloved "Death and the Maiden." Yup, the Tokyo really know what they're doing. Afterwards we went backstage and talked to them. It was tons of fun submitted 16-Nov-03 by

Julia Lozos After being forced to premiere one of my compositions last summer, I've been having much more of my music played. If any of you recall my Redwall songs, Ian Cromwell's quartet is eventually going to play the whole cycle in one of their concerts. One of the two of us will keep you posted on the exact date. submitted 22-Jul-02 by
Ian Cromwell I was downtown Toronto at Kensignton Market when I heard the melodious sounds of a string quartet above the din of people hawking meat and cheese. Myself being a member of a quartet I thought I would go scope out the other group. I watched for a few minutes, when I noticed the cellist was wearing an MPM shirt! When they finished their number I went up and introduced myself. And who did it turn out to be but none other than Matthias himself, the infamous violinist I had heard pages about, with some of his fellow MPMers. I was wery happy to see fellow nerds. *Ian* submitted 26-May-02 by
nikki mayville I was doing some research online for an article and came across a reference to Music at Port Milford - oh the memories those four words bring flooding back! To update anyone interested... I'm in the process of graduating from the University of Windsor with my Bachelor of Music in vocal studies (finally), and will be doing a violin/voice(that's me)/piano recital June 7 with two friends of mine. I've been writing for a local publication as the arts/culture writer for the past few months, and spent my last year of school as the arts editor for the university newspaper. Anita Hiradhar and I are going to be doing some quartet and trio gigs this summer, so if anyone knows of any weddings in the Southwestern Ontario region, let us know! Last summer I backpacked through Ireland for a month, and this year I'm planning on traveling to more local (and affordable) places in August, so hopefully I can make my way up to MPM and catch a concert or two... Hope everyone is well! (oh... if Soojin reads this... I still have the giant fork - that's news, if anyone but me remembers, isn't it?) submitted 02-Jan-02 by

Besides Sarabeth and JoAnna, Alumns attending were: Suhashini Nijhowne from Johnson City, NY; Joan Kim from Binghamton, NY; Greg Irwin from Pittsford, NY; Sophia and Cindy Purekal from Yonkers, NY; Ken and Stu Anderson from Wescosville, PA; Tasha Colkett from Sellersville, PA; Peter Goldstein from Hudson, MA; Annie Garlid from Cos Cob, CT; Stephanie Hsu from Scarsdale, NY; and Meg, Emily, Oliver and Charlotte Hill from Pleasantville, NY. submitted 11-Jul-00 by
