Faculty

Coenraad Bloemendal (cello), was born in Amsterdam and studied there at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He completed his studies with Janos Starker and William Primrose in the United States. He came to Canada in 1971. Coenraad Bloemendal soon become one of this country's leading chamber music cellists. He played with Camerata Canada, The Canadian Chamber Ensemble, The Toronto Chamber Players and The Rembrandt Trio. Mr. Bloemendal has recorded on the C.B.C., Crystal, Dorian and Sony labels (with Glenn Gould).

Corey Gemmell (violin), B. Mus. Performance, M. Mus. Performance, member of toneART ensemble, Elgin String Trio, Concertmaster Symphony Hamilton Orch. and member of Esprit Orchestra. Highlights from 2000/2001 season include solos in Munich, Germany and performances of Mozetich's Violin Concerto, Brahms' Concerto for Violin and Cello, and Saint-Saens Havanaise. A frequent adjudicator at music festivals, Mr. Gemmell is on the faculty at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Chris Eastburn (vocal, lute), Director, Family Folk Chorale; youth choir director, The Church of the Redeemer; arranger, Boston Secession. Winner of KidSing 2000's international composer's competition (with "I'm Going to Spangola" which was premiered at Music at Port Milford). Connecticut College (B.A. 1991) and Boston University (M.M. 1997). Studies at the Aspen Music Festival, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, Yale University.

Rohan Gregory (violin), Member, award-winning Arden String Quartet. Wide-ranging interest in chamber music, including performance with Klezmatics and Itzhak Perlman, tours to Thailand with flutist Abbey Rabinovitz, to India with the Indo-jazz group Natraj, and nationally with the SophiaBilides Greek Folk Ensemble. Active freelancer throughout New England, has played with Boston Symphony, B.S.O. Pops, Boston Ballet Orchestra and Boston Lyric Opera. Coached for Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. Mus.B. from Oberlin with Marilyn McDonald; M.M. from Univ. of Mass. with Charles Treger.

Katharine Rapoport (violin, viola), is a member of the Performance Faculty of the University of Toronto and the Glenn Gould Professional School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Recent performances include the premiere of Alexander Rapoport's Concerto for Erhu and Viola with George Gao, erhu and the Toronto Sinfonietta and Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 with Scott St. John at the Univ. of Toronto Viola Extravaganza Concert.
