Madawaska String Quartet
Since their first concerts given in the towns along the Madawaska River, the Madawaska Quartet has been fascinated by the many extraordinary, and sometimes unlikely, connections between the music of different eras and different countries. They strive to bring diverse and sometimes unusual repertoire to as broad an audience as possible. Recently the quartet played a new program of North and South American music at the Festival Ibero Americano in Puerto Rico and was invited to perform at the New Music North Festival in Thunder Bay. Earlier in the season the Canadian Brass chose them to record the CD for their new "String Class" books, and their new programme, "Chasing Beethoven," played to capacity audiences at the Glenn Gould Studio and the Art Gallery of Windsor and was broadcast by the CBC. Next season they have been invited by the Music Gallery (Toronto) to be the first musicians-in-residence, and their touring plans include a return visit to Puerto Rico as well as a trip to Cambodia. Upcoming concerts include the Elor Festival, Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Society, the Music Garden, and a Gala tribute concert for Oscar Peterson at the Mississauga Arts Centre.

John Marshman, cello, Faculty, Wilfrid Laurier University, The Royal Conservatory of Music. Member Numus Ensemble, and regular guest of The Music Umbrella and the K-W Chamber Music Society. Participant, music festivals across North America. Graduate, University of Toronto. Further studies in Amsterdam with Peter Wispelway.

Katharine Rapoport, teaches violin, viola & chamber music at the University of Toronto and the Glenn Gould Professional School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. She performs in chamber and contemporary music ensembles; conductor, RCM chamber orchestra; participant in creating and editing RCM syllabi & repertoire album.
