The Borealis String Quartet has established itself as an ensemble praised for its dynamic performances, passionate style, and refined, musical interpretation. Featured in numerous CBC broadcasts, the Borealis String Quartet has performed to critical acclaim and sold out concert halls across Canada. In Ottawa, their National Arts Centre debut was featured by CBC Radio on "In Performance" and The Gazette in Montreal chose their debut as a Critic's Choice event receiving rave reviews. Formed in Vancouver at the University of British Columbia in the fall of 2000 and mentored by Professor Andrew Dawes, former first violinist of the Tokyo and Orford String Quartets, the Borealis String Quartet is the Quartet-in-Residence at the University of British Columbia where they give regular masterclasses and teach chamber music at the School of Music.
