Faculty

Marie Berard, violinist, Concert Master Canadian Opera Company Orch., sought after chamber musician, soloist, recording artist and teacher. Former member Toronto Symph. Orch. Highly regarded as interpreter of new music. Solo recordings include solo sonatas of Bright Cheng, Anthony Davis, Alfred Schnittke Concerto Grosso #1 and "Meditation" from Thais. Regular performer at numerous chamber music festivals.

Susan Gagnon, cellist, Principal contributor to new RCM cello syllabus. RCM examiner. Adjudicator and workshop teacher in Montreal and Ontario area. RCM faculty since 1984. Member Hamilton Philharmonic and String Quartet Panache. Mus. B., U. of Western Ontario. Master Classes with Janos Starker, Aldo Parisot, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.

Rohan Gregory, violinist, has cultivated a wide-ranging expertise in chamber music and world musics, including stints with the Apple Hill Chamber Players, the Ancora Ensemble, the Amethyst and New Bohemian string quartets, and the internationally award-winning Boccherini Ensemble. When not in town to perform with the Boston Ballet Orchestra, the Boston Lyric Opera, The New England String Ensemble, or the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, he may be found on tour in Europe with the well-known klezmer group The Klezmatics, in Thailand with the Indian-fusion group Kaleidoscope, in India with the Indo-jazz ensemble Natraj, or on the U.S. West coast with the Sophia Bilides Greek Folk Ensemble.

Roberta Janzen, cellist, member of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra and performs frequently with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. She was twice featured in recital on CBC Radio's "Music Around Us" Series as well as in a Numus/Continuum co-production, in which she gave the Canadian premiere of Marco Stroppa's solo cello piece "Ay, there's the rub" (2001). Roberta has performed at festivals such as Ravinia, Tanglewood, the Rutgers Summerfest, the Elora Festival and the Banff Centre. She has appeared as principal cellist with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Les Violons du Roy, and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Angela Rudden, violist, Principal violist National Ballet, member Canadian Opera Co. Performances as soloist and chamber musician in Europe and Japan. Private teaching studio, Toronto. Mus.B. Queens U., M.M. Musik Hochschule Munich.
