Faculty

Marie Berard (violin), Concert Master Canadian Opera Company Orch., sought after chamber musician, soloist, recording artist and teacher. Former member Toronto Symph. Orch. Highly regarded as interpreter of new music. Solo recordings include solo sonatas of Bright Cheng, Anthony Davis, Alfred Schnittke Concerto Grosso #1 and "Meditation" from Thais. Regular performer at numerous chamber music festivals.

Chris Eastburn (vocal, lute), Director, Family Folk Chorale; youth choir director, The Church of the Redeemer; arranger, Boston Secession. Winner of KidSing 2000's international composer's competition (with "I'm Going to Spangola" which was premiered at Music at Port Milford). Connecticut College (B.A. 1991) and Boston University (M.M. 1997). Studies at the Aspen Music Festival, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, Yale University.

Susan Gagnon (cello), Principal contributor to new RCM cello syllabus. RCM examiner. Adjudicator and workshop teacher in Montreal and Ontario area. RCM faculty since 1984. Member Hamilton Philharmonic and String Quartet Panache. Mus. B., U. of Western Ontario. Master Classes with Janos Starker, Aldo Parisot, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.

Rohan Gregory (violin), Member, award-winning Arden String Quartet. Wide-ranging interest in chamber music, including performance with Klezmatics and Itzhak Perlman, tours to Thailand with flutist Abbey Rabinovitz, to India with the Indo-jazz group Natraj, and nationally with the SophiaBilides Greek Folk Ensemble. Active freelancer throughout New England, has played with Boston Symphony, B.S.O. Pops, Boston Ballet Orchestra and Boston Lyric Opera. Coached for Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. Mus.B. from Oberlin with Marilyn McDonald; M.M. from Univ. of Mass. with Charles Treger.

Roberta Janzen (cello), appearances as Soloist, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, and at festivals such as the Steans Institute for Young Artists at Ravinia, the Tanglewood Music Center, and the Banff Centre. Appearances as Principal Cellist, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Les Violons du Roy, the Amadeus Ensemble, and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Currently, performs with many Canadian ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Opera Company. Roberta has taught cello at Wilfred Laurier University, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the Quiring Summer Music Festival, and has given masterclasses at the University of Toronto, the University of Winnipeg, and the University of Western Ontario. Recently she was chosen to perform the cello solos in the upcoming Sophia Loren movie "Between Strangers". Doctorate in Cello Performance at SUNY-Stony Brook.

Angela Rudden (viola), Principal violist National Ballet, member Canadian Opera Co. Performances as soloist and chamber musician in Europe and Japan. Private teaching studio, Toronto. Mus.B. Queens U., M.M. Musik Hochschule Munich.
